Cool ‘Fitness Challenge’ coming to Canton’s Summit on the Park
Before you fire up the grill this Memorial Day, Canton Township will provide you with a unique opportunity to fire up your muscles.
On Monday, May 27, from 7 a.m. to noon, the Summit on the Park is combining fitness with tradition to host its inaugural Summit Memorial Day Fitness Challenge.
To complete the challenge, participants ages 14 and older must finish a 1-mile run, complete 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats capped by a second 1-mile run.
Participants can also choose to do a half challenge, which would include a half-mile run, 50 pull-ups, 100 push-ups, 150 air squats and another half-mile run. Modifications for this challenge include pull-up assist bands and TRX straps.
“This challenge isn’t just about breaking a sweat; it’s about building connections, fostering determination, and achieving personal goals all while helping to support the Love a Michigan Vet homeless shelter,” stated Sarah Pushies, Summit on the Park Health & Wellness Specialist.
Community-bonding event
“It will be great to see our community come together to focus on their health and well-being, all for a good cause.”
The competition, which is sponsored by the National Guard, will be held during hour-long time slots every hour from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton.
Pre-registration is available online at www.cantonfun.org/register until May 20.
Registration fees are $40 for the full challenge and $20 for the half challenge.
Active-duty members and veterans will receive a 10% discount on registration. A portion of the proceeds will go to Love a Michigan Vet, a homeless shelter for veterans in Detroit.
