Registration extended for Canton’s All-Girls Flag Football League

With girls flag football continuing to grow at the high school level, Go Play Flag, in partnership with Canton Leisure Services, is helping younger girls get an early introduction to the sport with its All-Girls Flag Football League this fall.
Registration has now been extended through Tuesday, September 22, and organizers are encouraging local families to help spread the word.
The program is open to girls in grades 4–9, and no previous football experience is required.
Designed as introduction to flag football
The five-week instructional league is designed to introduce girls to football fundamentals, terminology and team concepts through fun drills, skill development and live game play. Each week, players will continue developing their skills while learning how the game works in a structured, supportive and high-energy environment.
“We want girls to know they don’t need to have played football before to participate,” said Bryan Ledin, Flag Football Director for Go Play Flag. “This is an opportunity to learn the sport, play with friends, build confidence and have fun.
“If every girl who is already registered brings one friend, we could introduce a whole new group of girls to flag football this fall.”

Girls may register individually or encourage friends, classmates, teammates and neighbors to join them.
Players from the Plymouth Prowlers have also been involved in lead-up clinics helping introduce young athletes to the sport.
The league, which will run from Sept. 29-Oct. 27, is for girls in grades 4th through 9th. Games will be held Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. at the Canton Sports Center .
The registration fee is $95 per player.
