Chik-fil-A project back on Canton’s radar. Here’s where
The construction of a Chik-fil-A on Ford Road just west of I-275 is mentioned in the Canton Township Planning Commission’s Aug. 17 agenda.
Chik-fil-A didn’t become one of America’s top fast-casual restaurant chains by giving up after one strike.
Just over a year after plans were scrapped to include a Chik-fil-A in the ill-fated Top Canton, LLC development just north of Ford Road and east of I-275, the fast-food juggernaut has filed an application to build a drive-thru restaurant at 41190 Ford Road, the former Bob Evans site.
Chik-Fil-A recently submitted an application to Canton’s Planning Services Division, according to the agenda for the Aug. 17 Planning Commission meeting.
Application will be reviewed
The submission is listed under the FOR REFERENCE ONLY part of the agenda, meaning it will not be discussed at Monday’s meeting.
The Planning Services Division carefully reviews the application before it will be discussed at a meeting.
The highly-anticipated Top Canton, LLC development — which included a Chik-fil-A, Portillo’s and Topgolf entertainment center — was unanimously approved by the Canton Planning Commission in January of 2025 following years of planning, site-plan adjustments and traffic studies.
First plan failed
However, an issue with the number of trees that would have to be removed and predicted traffic issues led to the plan’s demise.
Traffic is sure to be a widely-discussed topic once the Chik-fil-A project comes before the Planning Commission, given the congestion that already make the I-275/Ford Road area a commuter nightmare.
