The light poles and base for the scoreboard have been installed at the new P-CEP athletic stadium.

The sprawling Plymouth-Canton Educational Park campus’s third athletic field is taking shape — one light pole at a time.

Located just southwest of the intersection of Joy and Canton Center roads, the $11 million venue (paid for by funds generated by a successful 2020 $275 million bond) is slated to be completed in “late fall of 2024” (barring unforeseen delays), a Plymouth-Canton Community Schools spokesperson revealed Monday afternoon.

Michigan High School Athletic Association soccer and football regular seasons kick off in late-August and run approximately nine weeks, so there is no certainty games will be played at the stadium for the 2024 season.

Judging by a rendering on the P-CCS website, there will be ample space for football and soccer  practices just east of the stadium.

It is not clear whether each of the three P-CEP schools –Canton, Salem and Plymouth — will have a stadium of its own, or if they will rotate home games since the Park’s east turf field’s seating capacity is much greater than the west turf field near Plymouth High School and the new stadium that is located close to Canton and Salem high schools.

Per an update on the school district’s website, site grading, underground drains, in block rough-in electrical, stadium lighting and the steel posts on which the scoreboard will be secured have either been completed or are in the works.

SocialHouseNews.com has learned from the a representative of the project’s architect that the stadium “will have a few bells and whistles” and that its size will be larger than the west turf stadium and smaller than the east turf stadium.

Plymouth H.S. pool nearing completion, too

The venue will include an artificial-turf field (for both football, soccer and lacrosse), bleachers and a running track for the P-CEP track-and-field teams.

In addition, a 17,000-square-foot addition to Canton High School’s Phase III building will include a multi-purpose room, team rooms, restrooms and concession stands. The addition will be connected to the stadium.

There is a splash of good news regarding the new natatorium and multi-purpose room being constructed at Plymouth High School.

The natatorium is expected to be completed in early fall 2024 — barring unforeseen setbacks. The new swimming facility will be the home for the Wildcats’ boys and girls swimming and diving teams, which have shared pools with Canton and Salem since Plymouth first opened in 2002.
