Newborns at the three medical centers were decked out in Detroit-themed onesies provided by Born In Detroit, a growing new local apparel company which donated more than 300 outfits to the DMC to make ensure the babies were wearing appropriate threads for their first official photographs.

“This effort is a great way to celebrate new life and the birthday of our great city,” said Brittany Lavis, CEO of the Detroit Medical Center.

‘Generous donation’

“We are grateful to Born in Detroit for their generous donation.”

Anthony Tomey, co-owner of Born In Detroit and The Tomey Group, said the donation was uplifting way to celebrate Detroit’s birthday for the relatively new apparel company.

“My partners and I created the Born in Detroit brand to honor pride in the city, and showcase what the city means to you, whether you were born here, or you have the feeling of Detroit born in you,” said Tomey.

“Being able to provide babies who are truly born in Detroit with our clothes, just puts a smile on my face.”
