Canton hoops team back on track after rare four-game skid

Teddy Winstel lays in two of his team-high 19 points Friday night.
Throughout an uncharacteristic four-game January losing streak, Canton’s boys basketball team was fishtailing like a car on a stretch of ice-covered roadway.
It’s safe to say following Friday night’s 67-57 victory over Salem, the Cobras have righted themselves quite nicely.
Led by senior Teddy Winstel’s 19 points, four Cobras scored in double-digits — a rarity in high school hoops.

Joining Winstel in the plus-10 club were Lemuel Pettway (13); and Nick Hurley and emerging 6-foot-7 sophomore Liam Wilson, who both netted 11.
Salem was paced by Nye Turner (16 points) and Landen Stone (15).
Nice week for Cobras
Canton now has a two-game winning streak as it defeated Brighton on Tuesday, 36-32.

With the game deadlocked at 33-all with 5:06 to play in the third quarter, Canton reeled off a 12-5 run before denying any serious Salem comeback efforts.
Teddy’s dagger
If there was one shot that served as a dagger for Canton it was Winstel’s pull-up triple with 4:20 left to give the Cobras a 58-50 cushion.
Following a defensive stop by the Cobras, Pettway drained a three to extend Canton’s advantage to 61-50.
