Huge lottery ticket purchased at Ypsilanti business
The winning ticket was purchased at the Early Times Liquor Store in Ypsilanti.
A Washtenaw County woman is packing her bags for Florida after winning $100,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Poker Lotto game.
The lucky 56-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the cards drawn on May 16: 10 of clubs, king of hearts, ace of hearts, ace of diamonds, and king of diamonds.
The player bought her winning ticket at Early Times Liquor Store, located at 2433 East Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti.
‘Tried to stay calm …”
“I rarely play Poker Lotto, but I bought a ticket while I was at the store just because,” said the player. “I looked the ticket over after the drawing and wasn’t sure if I’d won anything, so I gave it to my son to check.

“When he told me I’d won $100,000, we both started yelling and jumping up and down! Since winning, I’ve tried to stay calm because I don’t want to let money change me, but it is pretty exciting to be here claiming $100,000!”
The player visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim her prize. With her winnings, she plans to take a trip to Florida, share with family, and pay bills.
Florida bound with winnings
“I don’t think it’s going to fully sink in that I won the lottery until I’m sitting on the beach in Florida in a few days. I’m buying my plane ticket as soon as I leave here!” the player said.
Poker Lotto offers players two great games in every hand: a chance to win a cash prize ranging from $2 to $500 instantly; plus, a nightly lotto drawing with prizes ranging from $3 to the grand prize of $100,000.
Each Poker Lotto play is $2 and may be purchased at Lottery retailers across the state.
