USA Today names Northville Twp. a 2025 Top Workplace in U.S.

Northville Township encourages professional development and provides learning opportunities to create a culture where employees feel valued. Northville Township introduced Leadership Exploration and Discovery (LEAD) in 2024, a one-day program focused on discovery. Staff learned the value they add to Northville Township and discover what other departments do as it relates to the services it provides to the community.
Northville Township has been awarded a 2025 Top Workplaces USA honor by USA Today.
The honor signifies that the local municipality is one of the top workplaces in the nation.
While Northville Township won back-to-back Top Workplaces awards in 2023 and 2024 from the Detroit Free Press, this is the first time it’s been recognized on a national level.
Northville Township was the first local government in Michigan to win this award and remains so in the 15-year history of the Top Workplaces program, which recognizes outstanding employers.
Employee feedback fuels honor
The honor is based on employee feedback through a confidential survey that measures 15 culture drivers that are proven to predict high performance in an organization. They include alignment, execution and connection.
“This is a wonderful honor,” said Northville Township Supervisor Mark J. Abbo.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank each and every member of our exceptional staff who find joy in serving others and rise to every occasion as they make Northville Township a great place to live, work and play.”
Many positive qualities
When asked to describe Northville Township’s culture, employees reported: supportive, team orientated, professional, friendly, flexible and work-life balance.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said CEO Eric Rubino of Energage, which administered the survey.
“That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
“We are proud of this honor,” added Supervisor Abbo. “We are happy to be the employer of choice by so many great individuals who work well together as a team.”
