Here are KLAA football’s new division alignments for ’26
Salem defensive back Kai Prinzevski trips up Novi running back Anthony Madafferi to prevent a long run
The Kensington Lakes Activities Association has revealed its new football-only (for now) divisions — and the results are compelling to say the least.
The re-alignment was made necessary due to the three Livonia schools — Churchill, Franklin and Stevenson — exiting the conference next season.
The new KLAA Black Division will include: Belleville, Northville, Fordson, Novi, Salem, Plymouth and Canton.
The new KLAA Gold Division will include: Howell, Brighton, Dearborn, Hartland, John Glenn, Crestwood and Wayne.
Long-distance travel will be limited
All KLAA football teams will play a non-conference game on the weekend of Aug. 27. The next seven weeks, each team will play a school in their division (with the exception of one cross-over) while Week 9 will be reserved for all cross-over match-ups (first place vs. first place, etc.).
One of the bonuses of the new alignment is that the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park teams will not have long-distance road games at Howell, Brighton and Hartland, except for select cross-over games.
On a more challenging note, the “Park” teams will face perennial powers Belleville and Fordson on an annual basis.
Given the odd number of teams in each division, there will be one cross-over game each week. For instance, Belleville will host Howell the weekend of Sept. 3 next season.
