Travel brand Pure Michigan has found a home at the new Corktown Place store at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).

The new shop, located in Concourse A and developed in partnership with Paradies Lagardère and the Wayne County Airport Authority, offers travelers Michigan-made goods from across the state’s two peninsulas capturing the essence of the Great Lakes State along with other travel essentials.

“DTW welcomes millions of travelers from around the world every year,” said Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “When passengers touch down in Detroit, our new Pure Michigan store will be open for business, offering a selection of Michigan-made products that are a testament to the craftsmanship, artistry, and grit that define our state.”

‘Perfect time’ for opening

The store features a dedicated Pure Michigan section, highlighted by the iconic logo on the window, captivating visuals – including a four-season video showcasing the state’s natural beauty – and a curated selection of quintessential Michigan products.

“The new Corktown Place store has opened at the perfect time – at the onset of spring and as the summer travel season approaches,” said Kelly Wolgamott, Vice President of Pure Michigan. “As we’re inspiring travelers to book their next visit to Michigan, we invite them to take a piece of the Great Lakes State with them.”

The Corktown Place store will be open 24 hours, seven days a week, and feature products representative of Pure Michigan, a state known for its ability to grow and produce things.

Offerings include cherry delicacies from Cherry Republic, apparel showing off Michigan pride from The Mitten State, confectionaries from Murdick’s Fudge, wool caps from Stormy Kromer and more.

Goal: elevate travelers experiences

“Our goal is to elevate traveler experiences, so it’s truly an honor to partner with such an iconic and recognizable travel brand as Pure Michigan,” said Pat Wallace, Vice President of Business Development at Paradies Lagardère.

“DTW is known as a best-in-class airport and as we look to elevate the retail and shopping experiences for guests, the addition of Corktown Place and this partnership will help us achieve just that.”

The store, emblematic of Corktown, Detroit’s oldest neighborhood that blends arts and culture with history and innovation, will also feature Motor City brands, including gifts from City Bird, pickles and other jarred culinary offerings from McClures and Hell Fire Detroit hot sauces.

“Corktown’s evolution into a growing and dynamic district perfectly showcases Detroit’s blend of history and innovation,” said Claude Molinari, President and CEO at Visit Detroit. “We are excited for travelers to experience a piece of that story by shopping from a curated selection of iconic Michigan-made products.”

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with an established brand like Pure Michigan and our concessionaire, Paradies Lagardère, to celebrate a place we call home,” said Chad Newton, CEO of the Wayne County Airport Authority.
