PCA hangs tough with Lumen Christi for a half before Titans take over
Jackson Lumen Christi sophomore phenom Kenna Hunt advances the ball against Plymouth Christian Academy star Clara Groen.
Jackson Lumen Christi’s acclaimed sophomore guard Kenna Hunt turned in a solid performance throughout Monday night’s MHSAA Division 3 quarterfinal clash against Plymouth Christian Academy, netting 12 points and dishing out eight assists.
One of the biggest problems for the Eagles, though, was that the Titans’ other 10th-grade guard, Lucy Wrozek, had an even better night.
Wrozek tallied 20 points to lift Lumen Christi to a resounding 64-32 victory.
The 23-3 Titans advanced to the MHSAA semifinals set for Thursday at 2 p.m. at Michigan State’s Breslin Center against Niles Brandywine.
Eagles should be proud
PCA finished its season with a sterling record of 21-6.

The early minutes of the game had BLOWOUT written all over it as Lumen Christi rocketed to a 14-0 lead.
The Eagles, who didn’t score their first point until the 2:44 mark of the first quarter, persevered, countering with a 10-0 run of their own to get back into the game.
Owners a tenuous 16-12 lead, the Titans stretched their lead to 21-12 on a long three from Erin O’Dowd (great name for a St. Patrick’s Day game) and a putback by Wrozek.
Titan-ic quarter
The Titans cemented the win in the third quarter when they outscored PCA 21-10 to stretch their lead to 42-24. Wrozek was the catalyst of the big quarter, scoring 10 points — six coming on a pair of triples.

PCA was led by senior guard Clara Groen, who was spectacular, scoring 22 points and securing double-digit rebounds.
Riley Pilat was PCA’s second-leading scorer with five points.
Depth helps JLC
Along with Hunt’s and Wrozek’s big nights, JLC senior forward Ruby Bryce tallied 10 points and multiple offensive rebounds to help keep possessions alive.
Lumen Christi reserves Codi Ruge and Tristin Johnson showed what their capable of during the final minutes of the game when they combined for eight points.
