ONE SHINING MOMENT: LED lighting among upgrades to local sports venue
Canton Sports Center, a popular sports destination for local softball/baseball leagues and national tournaments in the Metro Detroit area, is set to undergo several significant renovations in early 2024.
This active facility, located in Canton’s Victory Park, will be upgraded in 2024 with a new state-of-the-art LED lighting system, that will improve on-field lighting and visibility in its 12 softball fields, as well as reduce energy consumption and enhance the overall experience for players and spectators. This project, which is currently in progress, is scheduled to be completed in April 2024 by the opening day of the 2024 Spring Season.
A majority of the concrete sidewalks surrounding the facility have already been replaced. The Canton Sports Center also plans to replace all of the sidewalks leading to the 12 softball fields in October 2024.
Kicker’s makeover
Recently completed renovations include a dining area makeover to Kicker’s Bar & Grill – a full-service restaurant located in the facility. Improvements include an updated look with a new paint color scheme and booth cushion replacements.
“All of these projects will deliver superior improvements to our premier facility, which hosts over 2,500 league and tourney teams from April to October each year,” said Abe Vinitski, Canton Park & Sports Supervisor. “Every year, we draw local youth and senior participants along with national elite players to Canton as their destination for baseball, softball, cricket, lacrosse, and flag football. These dramatic improvements will help secure our ranking as one of the best Sports facilities in Michigan.”
