Northville Township’s ‘Cuffs for a Cause’ fun way to aid fundraiser

Some hope will be given to area families this holiday season with the help of local leaders, handcuffs, community support, pseudo bail money, and a police therapy dog named Max.

Northville Township Police Department and Cunningham-Limp are teaming up to raise funds for local families in need through a creative and fun-filled “Cuffs for a Cause” fundraiser.

The event will also showcase Northville Township’s new Essential Services Complex (ESC), a state-of-the-art public safety facility currently under construction by Cunningham-Limp.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., community leaders will be “arrested” and held in a temporary “jail” at the under-construction Essential Services Complex. To secure their release, they must raise “bail” funds, which will benefit local causes chosen by
Cunningham-Limp, which has selected the Township Police Department’s “Hope for the Holidays” initiative and nonprofit Oakland Family Services.

‘Max’imum effort

Max, Northville Township Police’s beloved therapy dog, will be another one of the Community VIPs showing the public his puppy eyes over social media, begging for bail assistance from Township residents.

The public is encouraged to participate to get Max his “bail” money and other local leaders who are jailed. Donations should be directed to Cunningham-Limp, which will split the money between the charities.

Donations should be mailed or delivered by Dec. 15 to: Cunningham-Limp, 28970 Cabot Drive, Suite 100, Novi, MI 48377.

Hope for the Holidays assists Northville families in need by providing them with grocery gift cards, toys, and winter clothing.

Going strong in 4th year

This marks the fourth year the Police Department has hosted the program. It collaborates with school district social workers to identify families who may need a helping hand.

Oakland Family Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive prevention, education, and treatment services to strengthen and support individuals and families in the community.

“This fundraiser puts emphasis on fun and it’s really about trying to help as many people as we can through the generosity of others,” said Community Service Officer Andrew Domzalski, who is Max’s handler.
