New P-CEP stadium could be constructed on this site by fall of 2024

The third P-CEP athletic stadium is set to be built on the property located just southwest of the intersection of Joy and Canton Center roads.
The Plymouth-Canton Educational Park campus could be home to a third athletic stadium by September of 2024, according to information included in the agenda for the Nov. 28 Plymouth-Canton Schools Board of Education meeting.
In a presentation scheduled to be delivered by McCarthy & Smith, Inc. Construction Services and TMP Architecture (both longtime Plymouth-Canton Community Schools collaborators), recommended bids totaling $11,352,256.00 for a new stadium just southwest of the intersection of Joy and Canton Center roads; and an addition to Canton High School’s Phase 3 complex will be discussed.
The Phase 3 addition will include a spacious multi-purpose room and at least two team rooms, according to the site plans.
The projects will be funded by a $275 million bond passed by Plymouth and Canton residents in March of 2020.
Busy year ahead

Tuesday night’s presentation targets groundbreaking for the the stadium and addition for January of 2024, with a September 2024 projected completion date for the stadium and October 2024 completion date for the addition.
P-CEP athletic teams representing three schools, each with student populations of 2,000-plus, currently share two stadiums — one just south of Canton High School and the other located southwest of Plymouth High School.
The more-western stadium was unusable throughout the 2023 fall athletic schedule following damage caused by a late-August rainstorm.

New stadium, new mascot
Coincidentally, the stadium and addition projects will be discussed during the same meeting that will include a resolution to replace Canton High School’s Chiefs mascot with Cobras.
Tuesday’s board of education meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Plymouth-Canton Schools headquarters located at 454 S. Harvey St. in Plymouth.
