MDOT plans to invest $65 million to rebuild 2.5 miles of M-153 (Ford Road) between Sheldon Road and Lotz Road, east of I-275, in Wayne County.
Multiple improvements planned
This project includes drainage improvements, traffic signal replacements, operational improvements, sidewalk improvements compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), lighting upgrades, and sign and pavement marking replacement.
There also will be intelligent transportation system (ITS) work and necessary pavement repairs on M-153 (Ford Road) between I-275 and Lotz Road.
The collaborative redesign is expected to reduce the high volume of crashes that have occurred in this area.
