From the Football Field to Real Estate

A native of Plymouth, Michigan, Lou’s journey to real estate is as inspiring as it is unique. A Hope College graduate with a degree in Communications and a minor in Leadership, Lou also served as captain of the Hope football team. His experiences on the field and as the son of a celebrated football coach instilled in him a work ethic and drive that translates seamlessly to his career in real estate.

“Football taught me countless parallels between the game and life. When times get tough, the tough get going,” Lou shares. That same determination has fueled his transition into real estate.

A Diverse Background of Service

Before diving into real estate, Lou worked as an outside sales representative for Proforma, specializing in branded apparel and promotional products. He also runs a power washing and gutter cleaning business during the summers. While real estate initially started as a “back-pocket” career, Lou quickly found himself captivated by the industry after closing his first deal just a month and a half after earning his license.

“My first closing hooked me,” he says. “I realized this was a career that combined my love for helping people with my competitive nature.”

 

Passion for Helping First-Time Homebuyers

Lou’s enthusiasm for real estate shines in his work with first-time homebuyers. “Helping someone navigate buying their first home and seeing their excitement is one of the most rewarding parts of this business,” he says. Lou takes pride in his ability to guide clients through the process with knowledge, care, and a team-oriented approach.

Lou credits much of his success and character to his family and faith. His father, Tim, a Hall of Fame coach, and his mother, Julie, a successful entrepreneur, serve as his role models. “Watching them work tirelessly and achieve success has inspired me to follow in their footsteps,” Lou says.

Lou’s family remains a central part of his life. Whether it’s golfing with his dad, skiing with his mom and brother, or enjoying sand volleyball in Fort Myers, Lou values time spent with his loved ones. His faith also plays a significant role in shaping his outlook and philanthropy. He supports the Hair2Heart Foundation and finds motivation in grounding himself in gratitude for life’s blessings.

Lou’s advice to new agents is straightforward but impactful: “Stay consistent and be a good person. Treat your clients with care and integrity, not as quick transactions.” Lou’s genuine approach to client relationships and his commitment to education set him apart as a Realtor who prioritizes trust and excellence.
