Canton High to revive Athletic Hall of Fame program, seeking nominees
Following a five-year gap in inductions, Canton High School is reviving its Athletic Hall of Fame program, the school announced recently.
The first step school administrators are taking is soliciting nominations for athletes, coaches and administrators who have contributed to the school’s athletic excellence “through outstanding achievement, dedication and character.”
Here’s how to nominate
Members of the Plymouth-Canton community can submit nominations through the simplified online form by clicking here. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 29.
Eligibility criteria includes a five-year post-graduation waiting period for athletes and a minimum five-year coaching tenure for coaches.
The school’s inaugural Hall of Fame class was honored in 2018: Canton’s state finalist 2005 football team; coaches Bob Blohm (basketball), Tim Baechler (football), John Cunningham (gymnastics) and Fred Crissey (baseball); and athletes Allison Schmitt (swimming), Anne Morrell (soccer), Brian Stemburger (baseball), Dave Visser (basketball), Devin Thomas (football and track), John Young (baseball), Katey (Gilles) Branson (gymnastics), Katie Cezat (basketball), Paul Petersen (swimming) and Thomas Close (baseball).
