Big Moe’s Kitchen’s latest expansion has spread to Canton — great news for residents of western Wayne County who have grown fond of the popular eatery founded in 2016 by master chef Moe Elhamawi.

Big Moe’s fifth location officially opened its doors Monday at 155 N. Haggerty Road, just south of Cherry Hill Road.

Elhamawi, a 15-year culinary entrepreneur, opened his first Big Moe’s in Wayne, Mich., in 2016. He currently has restaurants in Garden City, Dearborn, Grand Blanc, Oxford and Canton, with a sixth site set to open near Seven Mile and Livernois roads in Detroit.

The sparkling new eatery in Canton is highlighted by a stunning length-of-the-wall mural of the Detroit skyline along with stylish tables that can sit up to 25 patrons.

Menu is diverse, reasonably priced

While the ambience is abundant, it’s the food that brings people to Big Moe’s. Among the offerings are five wraps — from Chipotle chicken shawarma to Dragon steak — along with subs, rice bowls, wings, salads, sides and a quintet of Big Moe’s signature items: Bam Bam Shrimp, BBQ chicken egg rolls, Loaded smoked brisket fries, Smoked brisket sandwich and almond chicken.

Al Jomaa, the owner of the Canton location, said the new location is a perfect site for Big Moe’s to flourish in its furthest move west in metro Detroit.

“We loved Canton because its such a tight-knit, cohesive community,” said Jomaa. ” We love this space and we invite people from Canton and beyond to stop in and enjoy it with us.”

The menu is packed with reasonably-priced items that range from $20 (almond chicken) to the Chipotle chicken and steak wraps that are priced at $7 (with a combo including fries or rice with a soft drink costing an additional $5).

“With the success, love and support of our customers, we are growing,” the franchise’s website says. “None of this would be possible without the love and support of our community.”

Big Moe’s is open Monday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Big Moe’s is closed on Sundays.
