Canton man co-owns Michigan’s first Milkshake Factory

Canton man co-owns Michigan’s first Milkshake Factory

The Milk Shake Factory will celebrate its grand opening Sept. 15 from noon to 9 p.m. at 326 S. Maple in Ann Arbor.

The Milkshake Factory does exactly what its name implies: manufactures made-from-scratch milkshakes that come in a wide variety of basic (vanilla, strawberry and chocolate) and unique (Banana Fosters and Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, to name two) flavors.

“I love all the flavors, but my favorite is probably the Bananas Foster,” admitted Canton resident JT Singh, a co-owner of Michigan’s first Milkshake Factory, which is celebrating its grand opening Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. at 326 S. Maple in Ann Arbor.

The business also sells chocolates whose recipes are created by fourth-generation chocolatiers.

Singh said the Milkshake Factory’s rich, family-owned tradition made becoming an owner of the brand easier than devouring a Banana Fosters shake.

A lot to like

“I love the business model,” Singh said. “The wide variety of unique flavors and the quality of the product are what sold me on it.

“Since we had our soft opening a few weeks ago, customers have told us it’ the best milkshake they’ve ever had, so that makes us happy.”

An example of the Milkshake Factory’s unique flavors is the PB & J, which consists of “creamy peanut butter sauce swirled with raspberry puree and blended with crunchy over baked peanut butter cookies” its website states.

It’s three signature shakes are the Campfire S’Mores, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, the Chocolatier and the Cookie Jar.

Gourmet flavors are scrumptious

Among the Factory’s premium gourmet flavors are Bananas Foster (Singh’s go-to), Cookie Brownie Fudge and Confetti Frosted Cupcake.

Sunday’s grand opening will include appearances from University of Michigan football players Alex Orji and Semaj Morgan (from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.), and a contest to win free milkshakes for a year.

“Based on the feedback and reception we’ve receive since our soft opening, there will probably be a line out the door for our grand opening,” Singh said.
