Brighton gas station sells $2 million scratch-off ticket

The $2 million scratch-off ticket was purchased at USA 2 GO Quick Store in Brighton.

An Oakland County man’s “go-to” game, Colossal Cashword, paid off in a big way when he won the game’s $2 million top prize.

“Colossal Cashword is my go-to game,” said the 34-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous.

‘Such a great feeling!’

The winning ticket

“I scratched the ticket right after I bought it and was excited when I got nine words. When I got the 10th word for a $2 million prize, I was in total shock. Winning is such a great feeling!”

“Scratching off a $2 million winning ticket is the type of thing Lottery players dream of, and it became a reality for this lucky player who won a Colossal Cashword top prize!” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “Congratulations to the player on his incredible win!”

He got gas and $2 mil

The player bought his winning ticket at USA 2 GO Quick Store, located at 8355 Grand River Road in Brighton.

He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million, rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With his winnings, he plans to pay off student loans and buy a new car.

Players have won more than $96 million playing Colossal Cashword, which launched in September 2023. Each $30 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $30 up to $2 million. More than $21 million in prizes remain, including five $10,000 prizes, and 37 $5,000 prizes.
