 Balanced Northville LAX team overpowers Salem, 14-5

Northville’s girls lacrosse team got off to a fast and furious start Monday night against host Salem and never eased up on the gas pedal on the way to a 14-5 victory.

The Mustangs are now 3-0 in KLAA cross-over games and 3-2 overall.

The Rocks slipped to 0-3 in cross-overs and 0-4 overall.

Fueled by two goals a piece by Addison Gubing and Karissa Dahring, Northville stampeded to a 5-0 lead in the game’s first eight minutes after Anabelle Bednarz scored at the 4:24 mark of the first.

Rocks get on the board

Salem halted the Mustangs’ scoring train when Cate Martin deposited the ball in the net; however, Northville closed the first-quarter with a 6-1 lead thanks to Dahring third goal in the opening 12 minutes.

Goals from Bednarz and Gubing early in the second stanza stretched the visitors’ lead to 8-1 before the Rocks registered back-to-back net-finders from Emrie Gay and Bella Papazoglou to pull to within 8-3.

The Mustangs iced the game with six straight goals: three by Bednarz, and one each from Gubing, Dahring and Claire Goodman.

Both goalies were solid

The Rocks finished the game on a strong note when Martin tallied two goals in the final 95 seconds.

Senior goalie Madi Ramirez was outstanding for Salem, keeping the game as close as it was with multiple point-blank saves.

Freshman Morgan Watson was stellar in goal for the Mustangs, making a handful of quick-twitch saves.
