As KLAA dissolves, local schools move to new conferences

The plug is about to be pulled on the 16-school Kensington Lakes Activities Association, spurring a mass exodus of the conference’s member schools.

The conference’s 2026-27 structure will remain throughout the 2026-27 school year, which will serve as a transition year heading into 2027-28, when the plug is pulled on the KLAA.

The three Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Schools — Canton, Salem and Plymouth — will join the four-division SEC.

Here is the grid for the updated SEC Conference

The Cobras, Rocks and Wildcats have landed in the SEC Blue Division, which also includes Brighton, Hartland and Howell (so new conference doesn’t equate to the elimination of relatively long drives to the west).

So long, Novi and Northville

Longtime KLAA members Novi and Northville are headed to the Oakland Activities Association beginning in 2027.

Dearborn, Fordson, Belleville, John Glenn and Wayne Memorial — all current KLAA members — will make up the SEC Silver Division along with Monroe and Dearborn Heights Crestwood.

The SEC Red Division will consist of the three Ann Arbor high schools along with Saline, Dexter and Bedford.

The SEC White Division will include Chelsea, Adrian, Jackson, Ypsi Lincoln, Jackson NW, Pinckney, Tecumseh and Ypsilanti Community.

SocialHouseNews.com will provide updates as more details emerge.
