Zebras stampede Carman-Ainsworth, advance to state title game
Carlos Medlock Jr scored 29 points to lead Wayne Memorial over Flint Carman-Ainsworth, 66-49.
Just two years removed from a 7-17 season, Wayne Memorial is headed to the MHSAA Division 1 state championship game.
The Zebras rebounded from a first-quarter deficit to post a convincing 66-49 victory over Flint Carman-Ainsworth Friday afternoon inside Michigan State’s Breslin Center.
Wayne trailed after the first quarter, 14-13, but it was all downhill from there for the Zebras who led by six at the half and 50-38 after three quarters.

Marvelous Medlock
Leading scorer Carlos Medlock Jr was his usual brilliant self, torching the nets for 29 points. Austin Tori added 14 and Jaylohn Allen netted nine.
Carman-Ainsworth closed its deficit to nine at one point in the fourth quarter before sophomore guard Antwan Williams scored five straight points to give the Zebras all the cushion they would need.
Wayne will take on East Lansing in Saturday’s 12:15 championship game at Breslin.
