Village Arts Factory hosts art exhibit honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Canton’s Village Arts Factory is featuring a special exhibition in its fine art gallery honoring the life, legacy, and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This powerful exhibition, on display now through Jan. 28, aligns with the King Center’s national theme of “Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way.”
This exhibition features the work of 12 artists, whose diverse perspectives and creative voices explore the themes that defined Dr. King’s life and leadership, which include community building, nonviolence, equality, resilience, and hope.
Spanning a wide range of mediums and artistic styles, the artworks invite viewers to engage with both the historical impact and contemporary relevance of Dr. King’s vision.
Distinguished artists featured
Featured artists, include: Jean-Paul Aboudib, Molly Bell, Lori Ellsworth, Micah Fountain, Donald L. Henderson Jr., Jesús Ibarra, Linda Laster, Cheryl Martin, Marilyn Meredith, Ann-Mari Scheuer, Chuck Schroeder, and Deborah Walters.

“Through painting, mixed media, photography, drawing, and other media, the artists interpret what it means to build bridges across differences and to work collectively toward a more just and compassionate society,” stated Kevin Ryan, Village Arts Factory Community program director.
“It’s inspiring to see how collectively this exhibition offers moments of reflection and conversation that encourages viewers to consider how the principles of nonviolence and community continue to shape our shared future.”
A special exhibition opening reception will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. that is free and open to the public.

Participants will be able to enjoy light refreshments and live music, meet the artists, and experience “Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way” in person.
In addition, a special program will be offered featuring inspiring remarks from community leaders and scholarship presentations. The exhibit is free and open to the public during gallery hours: Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during all public events.
