Tuesday’s Canton-vs.-Salem soccer game will be super special

The April 28 soccer game between Canton and Salem will double as a fundraiser for the SJ5K.

As if Tuesday’s Canton-vs.-Salem girls soccer match won’t be entertaining enough on its own, the event will also help raise funds for one of Plymouth-Canton’s most-popular charities.

The host Cobras will use the highly-anticipated rivalry match as a fundraiser for the SJ5K — an annual 5K run held the first Sunday of May that supports local families who are enduring challenging health crises.

Multiple ways to help

Most of the fundraising events will take place throughout Tuesday’s game, which is set to start at 7 p.m.

In addition to the sale of SJ5K merchandise, a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale, fans can participate in a fun halftime shootout featuring guest goal-keepers Bev Lardin and David Reed-Nordwall.

Prior to Thursday’s matches, Salem is 3-1 in the KLAA West Division while Canton is 2-2 following Tuesday’s 8-0 victory over Howell.
