This Berkley fitness business has the ultimate core strengthener

The Lagree Megaformer sounds like a giant, intimidating machine you’d see in a “Transformer” movie.
In reality, it’s a cutting-edge piece of fitness equipment that will transform your core — the stable part of your body (including abdominals, hips, back and shoulders) that helps make everyday movements more efficient.
One of the few places in Michigan you can find the state-of-the-art muscle-building machinery is at Core (LP) Fitness, a Berkley-based business opened in February by lifelong fitness aficionado Judy Pagryzinski.
Compelling backstory
Pagryzinski’s backstory is as compelling as the Megaformer’s rise to core-building superstar status. A lifelong athlete and former elementary school music teacher, she secured a job in a Lagree fitness studio in Los Angeles in 2015.
“I had never heard of the Lagree Megaformer before,” she admitted. “Once I started using it, I was hooked.
“It’s low-impact and extremely core-focused. It’s a high-intensity workout, so you feel it the next day. I saw results immediately, even though I had struggled in the past to strengthen my core, no matter how hard I worked at it.”
When Pagryzinski moved back to southeast Michigan in 2017, she struggled to find a fitness studio that was equipped with a Lagree Megaformer.
“I thought to myself, ‘Michigan is missing out on this amazing workout’,” she recounted.
Variety of classes
Not long after the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, Pagryzinski purchased a Lagree Megaformer and conducted one-on-one workouts with a growing list of clients.
“Before long, I was maxed out with just the one machine,” she said.
Fast forward to February when she opened Core (LP) Fitness , a steadily growing business that is drawing health-conscious people in from throughout metro-Detroit and beyond.
“A lot of people who stop in don’t know much about the Megaformer workouts, so there is some educating involved,” Pagryzinski noted. “Once they see the results, they’re hooked, just like I was.
“The majority of our clientele is female, but we have a percentage of men as well. It’s beneficial to everyone. The age range of our clients is late high school to upper-50s.”
Pagryzinski said she is inspired by the number of clients whose lives she has dramatically changed.
Inspiring success stories
“There have been an incredible number of success stories,” she said. “One in particular that stands out is a woman who suffered an abdominal separation during childbirth, something that is actually somewhat common.
“She struggled with this for years. Since she’s been working out at Core (LP) Fitness, the width of the separation has closed significantly and she is in a much better place. Big wins like that make me feel great.”
Pagryzinski said her business’s location at 3165 12 Mile Road in Berkley is ideal.
“This is such a nice community and there are a lot of new businesses opening up near our location,” she said.
