Sprawling pickleball paradise venue opens in Canton Township

The Pick Us Pickleball Club offers 14 regulation-sized courts, a lounge and pro shop.

The sport with the funny-sounding name and serious growth has an amazing new venue for players in Canton Township.

The 37,000-square-foot Pick Us Pickleball Club celebrated its soft opening Friday — and its public unveiling didn’t disappoint.

Equipped with 14 regulation-sized courts — all custom-made with a cushiony surface that your knees will instantly love — Pick Us opened at 8426 Ronda Drive in Canton.

Whatever was housed in the former warehouse located amidst an industrial park just south of Joy Road couldn’t hold a serve against the site’s new occupant.

Much-needed venue

“We’re super-excited, especially knowing we’re doing something for the community,” said Lei Sun, the club’s co-owner along with Yilin Yin and both their families. “We know how difficult it is finding courts for pickleball. With more and more people enjoying the sport, a place like this is much-needed.”

The pro shop offers every accessory you need to play pickleball

According to PickleHeads.com, more than 36 million people in the U.S. played pickleball in 2024 — a 223.5% increase since 2021.

The sport’s growth has outpaced the number of courts available to players — from beginners to avid and everyone in between.

Which is why the opening of Pick Us comes at a perfect time.

Several amenities

The founders thought of everything to accommodate their patrons. The site includes a pro shop for players looking for new paddle, a spacious lounge area where ordered-in food can be consumed (the business will offer vending-machine snacks, but all other food must be brought in or ordered via a food-delivery business).

“We encourage our customers to bring or order their own food and drink, but the only thing allowed on the courts is water,” said Anna Yin.

Courts can be reserved using the Court Reserve mobile app, which is popular among regular pickleball aficionados or by visiting the Pick Us Pickleball Club website, which has a link that will direct you to the app.

Complimentary-play specials

Anna Yin revealed the club will be offering several specials — including free play for a limited time — during its soft-opening time frame that is scheduled to run until May 26.

Affordable membership packages are also available, she said.

Pick Us will also have a staff of professional pickleball players who can offer instruction to beginning and seasoned players.
