Shades of Pink Foundation hosts Breast Cancer Awareness Month events
Shades of Pink Foundation (SOPF) is diving headfirst into Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, launching a series of impactful fundraising initiatives.
The Shades of Pink Foundation’s mission is to reduce financial stress for those undergoing breast cancer treatment in southeast Michigan by providing prompt funding for daily living expenses.
Since the organization’s founding in 2005, SOPF has distributed $2.9 million in financial support. Last October, SOPF raised around $70,000 and has set a goal of raising $100,000 this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Pink partnerships
Some of the pink partnerships and third-party fundraisers SOPF has planned for October include:
Think Pink With Sip & Shop is a collaboration with J. McLaughlin with 15% of sales at both the Troy and Grosse Pointe store on Oct. 10 benefitting SOPF.
Emagine Entertainment will be selling pink candy-coated popcorn all month at all of its theaters with a portion of the sales benefitting SOPF.
Joe Louis Greenway Partnership’s Pink On The Greenway on Oct. 12.
Pemmy + Clover will be selling an all-pink floral arrangement called ‘Shades of Pink’ throughout October with 10% of sales benefitting SOPF.
Comedy Night fundraiser
Northfield Township Police Department will be hosting a Comedy Night at Captain’s Joe’s Grill on Saturday, Oct. 26.
And several high school sports teams are hosting “Pink Out” games throughout the month of October.

“October is a special month for Shades of Pink Foundation,” said Mary Pat Meyers, board co- president, SOPF. “While we work tirelessly year-round to financially support those going through breast cancer treatment, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is when our fundraising
magic happens, offering many ways for the community to get involved.”
Hosting a special event or fundraiser to benefit SOPF is a great way to support the foundation in October. SOPF will provide a logo for event flyers, program brochures and social media promotion if appropriate.
From Pink-Out athletic events and breast cancer awareness walks to T-shirt sales and restaurant “Dine & Donate” gatherings, there are many ways to get together and give back. Those interested in hosting a fundraising event can reach out to executiveadministrator@shadesofpinkfoundation.org.
