Led by sophomore Brooke Resovsky’s 77, Salem’s girls golf team qualified for the MHSAA Division 1 state meet Tuesday for the first time in recent memory.
The Rocks shined despite chilly, rainy conditions, placing third in the Division 1, Regional 3 tournament at (the appropriately-named) Salem Hills Golf Course.
Northville placed first in the 13-team field with a score of 302. Brighton was second and Salem was third with a score of 363.
High standards
The top three teams and the top three individuals (not on a state-qualifying team) qualified for the D1 state meet.
Among the three individual qualifiers was Plymouth senior Annie Flavin, who carded a stellar 75.
In addition to Resovsky’s score, Salem received strong efforts from senior Amelia Olson (86), freshman Allison Mayer (99) and sophomore Claudia Fisher (101). MacKenzie MacKinder (105) also played well for Salem.

The Mustangs dominated behind sophomores McKenzie Stevens and Cam Baker, who carded rounds of 71 and 73, respectively. Junior Naaz Gill fired a 76 for Northville while Grace Bae registered an 82.
The Rocks are coached by Hope Warkoczeski, a former Salem player.
