Rare winter farmers markets coming to western Wayne County

Summit on the Park will host three off-season farmers markets.
The Canton Farmers Market will return with special off-season markets in February, March, and April at the Summit on the Park community recreation center.
The markets will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, March 19 and April 16, in the Banquet Center at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton.
A variety of local food growers and producers have signed on to participate in these Off-Season Farmers Markets, including: Betty’s Best Soap, featuring goat milk soap, lotion, meat tallow bars and lotions; Boblin Honey, featuring a variety of honey; Cora + Co Handmade, featuring handmade children’s clothing & accessories; Crave Home LLC, featuring natural skincare products and jams; Evermore Backyard Farm LLC, featuring bread, soup, dip dry mixes, and spices; Kapolnek Farms, featuring a variety of meats; Mariposa Boutique, featuring hair bows accessories and custom-made clothes; Moxy Eats, featuring salami chips; Pat Kubert, featuring pot holders, and sugar scrubs; Pick Michigan, featuring greenhouse produce; Planted Detroit, featuring salads and produce; Sign Woodworks, featuring home and holiday signs and decorations; SkinCare SocialClub, featuring various skincare products; Spice Grrrl, featuring organic spices, teas and salts; STEAP, featuring loose leaf tea and brewing accessories; The Cheese People of Grand Rapids, featuring a variety of cheese; The Pasta Shop, featuring pasta and sauce; and Urge Juice, featuring cold pressed juices, smoothies, and salads.
‘Win-win for everyone’
“Bringing back our off-season markets to the Summit on the Park is always a win-win for everyone,” said Canton Farmers Market Supervisor Jennifer Franz. “We are so glad that we’re able to help support our local farmers and crafters who provide access to healthy food sources and special items and fill a unique niche in our community.”

All City Dogs Food Truck will be onsite on February 19, featuring craft hot dogs and sausages, as well as a variety of sandwiches and sides for some tasty lunch options. The featured food truck for the March 19 market will be PizzaPazza. In addition, House of Mac food truck will be onsite during the April 16 market.
Bridge card and Double Up Food Bucks transactions will also be accepted by a variety of vendors. Tokens may be purchased at the Canton Leisure Services table. Market-goers are encouraged to enter through the banquet doors.
All of these indoor off-season farmers markets will pick up where the outdoor regular season of the Canton Farmers Market left off. The new season of the outdoor Canton Farmers Market will kick off Sunday, May 14, and will run every Sunday through October 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road.
