Plymouth’s The Cardinal golf course to host 2025 LIV tourney
Open less than a year, Plymouth Township’s The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort golf course is already making a splash in the world of professional golf.
On Tuesday, LIV Golf announced The Cardinal will host a team championship tournament Aug. 22-24.
Tickets for the event are expected to go on sale soon, LIV Golf revealed in a press release.
LIV, which launched in 2021, features many of the world’s best golfers, including Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm and Bryson Dechambeau.
History-making event
A Plymouth golf course has never hosted a professional tournament of this magnitude.
The name of the course pays homage to Catholic Cardinal Adam Maida, the former director of the Archdiocese of Detroit, who worked with The Pulte Group, Inc. founder William Pulte to develop the former St. John’s Seminary into a hotel and conference center in 2000.
The Cardinal was the first championship course to open to the public in metro Detroit in over two decades, according to the Saint John’s Resort website.
“[The Cardinal] effortlessly combines scenic beauty with an impeccably designed course,” the website explains.
