Plymouth High graduate Kane Elmy’s college baseball odyssey continues to grow more compelling by the season.
The Wildcats’ career leader in strikeouts, Elmy has carved out an impressive 6-2 record for Murray State, which captured the program’s first NCAA Regional championship Tuesday with a 12-11 triumph over the host and highly-favored Ole Miss Rebels.
The 42-14 Racers advanced to the NCAA Super Regional (think Sweet 16 in basketball terminology) after winning their first Regional title in 86 years.

After making 11 appearances (he struck out eight batters) as a junior in 2024, Elmy became a significant contributor for the Racers’ pitching staff this spring.
Among his signature wins came on May 23 when he subdued the bats of the University of Chicago Illinois in a 6-2 victory in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.
Key MVC win for Elmy
The Racers needed to win the MVC tourney to advance to the NCAA post-season.
Prior to transferring to Murray State, Elmy earned multiple pitching honors at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek.
Majoring in Integrated Studies (Applied Sciences), Elmy is the son of Scott and Michelle.
Duke on deck for Racers
His sister, Kendall, was a standout soccer player at Plymouth before graduating in 2024.
Murray State advanced to this weekend’s NCAA Super Regional where it will meet host Duke in a best-of-three series. The schedule for games and start times had not been announced as of Wednesday morning.
Elmy threw a no-hitter during his senior year at Plymouth as he fueled the Wildcats’ district-championship season.
