One million page views later, we’d like to thank our loyal readers
If Social House News was a brick-and-mortar business, we’d proudly be able to hang a McDonald’s-esque sign outside our building that reads: OVER 1 MILLION SERVED.
The brainchild of my always-innovative son Erik, SHN surpassed 1 million page views earlier this month — just over one year after officially launching.
With essentially a staff of two — Erik and I (although we’ve embraced the contributions of a steadily-growing number of corporate communications professionals and public relations firms) — SHN has thrived, I believe, because we focus on feel-good, endorphin-energizing subject matter.
We take great pride in showcasing people in southeast-Michigan communities who are delivering much-needed inspiration to those around them.
Hustle, hustle, hustle
Fueled by hustle and a desire to break stories before our competition — something SHN did on a routine basis in 2023 — we’ve been able to deliver fresh, exclusive content.
Some of my favorite stories from the past 13 months include the husband-and-wife first-time entrepreneurs from Ypsilanti who opened Soul Glow Juice Co. in Canton — all while working staggered shifts as bus drivers for the City of Ann Arbor.
And I loved the story of twin sisters Sara Milliken and Katie Laurie, who decided to run the 26.2-mile 2023 Detroit Free Press Marathon to honor their father, Bernie Haske, who passed away in July — even though they had barely trained and had never run a race longer than 13.1 miles.
Not only did Sara and Katie discover a level of endurance and stamina they can only explain by saying they felt their dad’s (“Berndawg”) presence during the run (both finished in just over five hours — incredible considering they registered for the race one month prior to the start — after hoping initially to simply finish the race), Sara spotted a random lady holding a sign on the Canadian side of the route that read “GO SARA AND KATIE!”.
If that doesn’t send chills running down your spine, well …
Inspiring stories
The list of feel-good articles we’ve posted goes on, from Canton-born-and-raised Trevor Nowaske signing as an undrafted free agent with his hometown team Detroit Lions and actually getting into a game for the surging NFL team before getting plucked off the Lions’ practice squad by the Arizona Cardinals; to the husband-and-wife food truck entrepreneurs who opened their own brick-and-mortar restaurant business in Canton.
Incredible examples of hustle and resilience.
Along with the website, our Instagram presence has skyrocketed over the past few months. In the past two weeks alone, our IG reels have exceeded 25,000 views.
We’ve been asked several times recently how you can support us and allow Social House News to continue being your source of good news in Metro Detroit.
Ways you can help
Here are a few ways:
1. Work with Social House Group to buy and/or sell a home. Your support of our real estate company is what allows us to continue to operate. If you’re considering buying or selling in 2024, we’d love to help! Send us a message on any of our pages or call Erik at (734) 620-4736.
2. Advertise with us! One thing we’ve mastered over the last decade is getting in front of people locally on social media. Not only will your business be featured on our News website, but you’ll also be featured on our real estate website and social media which reaches over 1,000,000 people in SE Michigan per month. We offer very affordable advertising opportunities and would love to help grow your business. If you’re interested in learning more about our advertising packages, email Erik at erik@socialhousenews.com with your name, contact info and the name of your business.
3. Last, but certainly not least, continue reading. Your support means the world to us and we would not be able to do what we love if it wasn’t for you.
Thank you again for all of your support.
The world needs more positivity and we’re honored to be able to be a source of good news for you and your family.
We hope everyone has an incredible 2024.
Here’s to the next 1 million page views!
