The rarely-a-dull-moment lives of Northville’s Nori family is preparing for another adventure — this time in the Pacific Northwest.
Micah Nori, a longtime NBA assistant coach (most recently for the Minnesota Timberwolves) was hired Tuesday as the new head coach of the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, the team announced.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Nori was selected among a group of finalists that included Boston Celtics assistant Tyler Lashbrook and Tiago Splitter, who was hired as the Chicago Bulls’ head coach earlier this month.
Strong skills set
Among Nori’s most compelling skills is communicating with his players and relationship-building.

Micah and Melissa Nori are the parents of Dante and Mia. Dante is currently a starting center fielder for the Philadelphia Phillies’ AA team in Reading, Pennsylvania. So far in 2026, Dante Nori has compiled two home runs, 20 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
Melissa Nori is a physical fitness instructor in southeast Michigan and Mia Nori recently graduated from Northville High School after a stellar academic and dance career.
Micah Nori was reportedly a finalist for the Detroit Pistons’ head-coaching job before the franchise decided on J.B. Bickerstaff.
