Northville senior Unger finalist for state’s soccer player of year

Ava Unger is a finalist for the Detroit High School Sports Awards to be presented June 16 at The Filmore in Detroit.

Northville senior Ava Unger is one of just six female high school soccer players in Michigan in the running to be named her sport’s player of the year at the Detroit High School Sports Awards, set for June 16 at The Filmore in downtown Detroit.

Unger, a senior, was a standout in the Mustangs’ run to the Division 1 semifinals this season — and was a multi-season contributor in Northville’s outstanding four-year stretch since her freshman season.

The guest speaker for the annual awards show is NFL Hall of Famer Dwight Freeney.

The show is produced with the support of Gift of Life Michigan, which is a full sponsor and the show’s ticket sponsor.
