Northville girls hoops team posts impressive win over Dearborn

It took just over a quarter, but Northville girls basketball ultimately figured out Dearborn’s scrappy defense Tuesday night in a home KLAA cross-over game.
Led by junior Sophia Knapp’s big night, the Mustangs pulled away to win 46-28 and improve their early-season record to 2-1.

Knapp netted a game-high 10 points to go with a team-leading seven rebounds and three steals. Her effort included a couple of put-backs after offensive rebounds and one spectacular reverse layup when her contested shot floated about five feet above the rim before touching down through the net.
Balanced attack
Northville’s scoring ledger was incredibly balanced. Sophia Fraas and Peyton Sivier both scored nine, while Carly Pelon and Harper Lee added seven points each.

Pelon dished out seven assists and Sevier grabbed six rebounds to to with her three steals.
Leann Alaouieh led the Pioneers with nine points.
Mustangs stampede in fourth
Northville led 24-20 at the half but got a quick momentum boost when Fraas opened the third quarter with an and-one layup.
The Mustangs put the Pioneers away in the fourth quarter by outscoring their visitors 13-2.
