Farnaz Bakhshandeh opened her own restaurant in Livonia after working 10 years in the restaurant business.

Open just two months, the Farnaz Mediterranean Grill, located at 37649 Five Mile Road, has quickly won over customers.

Featuring a robust menu of Persian and American offerings — all fresh with a multitude of create-your-own-bowl options — the Livonia eatery has a growing list of repeat customers entering its welcoming space in the shopping complex located just west of Newburgh Road in Livonia.

“We have one customer who has been in at least 10 times in the two months we’ve been open,” said owner Farnaz Bakhshandeh, smiling.

Bakhshandeh said several patrons have commented on the robust-sized portions the restaurant serves.

Bowled over by large portions

“One customer came in and told me the reason I haven’t seen her in two days is because it took her that long to eat the bowl she ordered,” Bakhshandeh said.

“I like to give my customers a good amount of food so they’re happy.”

Bakhshandeh said she worked in the restaurant business for 10 years before opening her own place in April.

“This makes me so happy,” she said, flashing a 100-watt smile. “It’s a dream come true.”

Farnaz Mediterranean Grill has earned nothing but strong reviews on Google, she said.

“Honestly, customers have loved everything they’ve tried,” Bakhshandeh said. “I make my own dressings here, so I’d have to say those have been very popular.

Delicious shawarma

“People love our shawarma. Everything is home-made, so that makes people happy.”

In addition to individual meals, Farnaz offers a family feast that feeds eight to 10 people, and a combo platter that feeds up to four people.

The eatery also has daily specials. For example, on Tuesday, the specials were vegetable grape leaves, meat grape leaves and meat kibbeh.

Along with create-your-own-bowl options ($9.99), single wraps ($8.99), and combo plates ($16.99), Farnaz offers American favorites like cheeseteak, chicken cheesesteak, chicken tenders and cheeseburgers (and Falafel burgers).

Variety is the spice of life

There are also plenty of sides, soups, salads, pita breads and a kids menu.

The business offers catering for parties, events and birthdays.

Its hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. It is closed on Mondays.
