Michigan Philharmonic to kick off summer season in Kellogg Park

Looking for a relaxing outdoor concert this summer? The Michigan Philharmonic has just the thing as it plans to offer three outdoor concerts throughout metro Detroit beginning with a performance in June.
Music from “The Phil” this summer will include a fun and uplifting mix of patriotic themes and Broadway music, in June, July and August.
The state’s top regional orchestra plans to perform at venues in Plymouth, Milford and Grosse Pointe.

Led by longtime conductor Nan Washburn, the Philharmonic’s performance dates this summer include the following:
Saturday, June 28 – Kellogg Park, in beautiful downtown Plymouth, plays host to the annual “An American Salute” patriotic concert with the Philharmonic. This free event begins at 7 p.m. and features lots of great patriotic tunes, American classics and modern pop sounds. The performance features two vocalists who are Plymouth natives, Melanie Kraut and Ryan Bailer.
The concert is presented through the support of the Plymouth Community Arts Council and the Wilcox Foundation.
Music on the beach
Saturday, July 12 – The Philharmonic next travels to Kensington Metropark for its annual performance at Maple Beach. This concert is called “On Broadway!” and features music from “West Side Story,” “Hamilton,” “Wicked” and “Cabaret.” The free event begins at 7:30 p.m.; there is a Metropark fee to enter the park. Vocalist Kay Calzone, a Plymouth native, will perform with the Phil.
Friday, Aug. 15 – A special Philharmonic concert is planned for the historic Eleanor and Edsel Ford Estate, also featuring a program called “On Broadway!” Enjoy this amazing array of musical styles from Broadway on the beautiful grounds of the historic home of Edsel Ford. There is an event cost for the 7 p.m. concert. Visit www.fordhouse.org for details.
