The City of Northville will host a community engagement meeting on Thursday, June 27, at 6 p.m. at the Northville Community Center, 303 W. Main, to  discuss replacing the playground at Ford Field and to gather ideas for a new playground from residents and others.

Presenters will be Wendy Longpre, director of Strategic Planning and Special Projects, and Bob Ford, landscape architect, of Spalding DeDecker Associates.

Concepts will be presented for the play area and surrounding structures; then the meeting will be opened up for input and comments from the audience with an exchange of ideas.

“We want to hear from the community about how the playground space at Ford Field can be reimagined in creative and fun ways to engage children in place of the Fort Griswold play structure,” said Longpre.

‘Unlimited design options’

Ford added, “Commercial play equipment has unlimited design options and there are many ways to bring a community’s vision to life.”

Ford was instrumental in developing the five-year Parks & Recreation Master Plan and is currently consulting for Northville Township on Legacy Park.

Bring your ideas to this meeting. Kids are welcome.
