Here are details for Northville’s 2024 Skeleton Launch Party

The downtown Northville Skeletons Launch Party is set for Friday beginning at 6 p.m.

The skeletons are here!

Downtown Northville’s Skeleton Launch Party is Friday, Oct. 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., in Town Square and along the downtown streets of Center and Main that are closed to traffic.

Social Bones will provide musical entertainment. Families with children will enjoy face-painting, balloon twisting and pumpkin decorating. Ghostbusters with their decked-out wheels will delight visitors. If you’re hungry, there will be food vendors in addition to the city’s great restaurants.

Many of the skeletons are cleverly matched to the businesses that sponsor them outside their stores, restaurants and offices. The annual event is managed by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), staffed by DDA Director Lori Ward, Assistant Director Stacy Pearson, and Marketing Director Jeri Johnson.

The creativity credit goes to Begonia Brothers of Northville. While many skeletons make a repeat appearance, there are always new ones added to the display, including a Detroit Lions’ vignette.

Town Square heart of the exhibit

Town Square is at the heart of the action with orange and purple mood lighting giant overhead cobwebs and fake spiders. The boulevard island with the city’s landmark clock has been converted into a cruise ship, with skeletons on vacation – even snorkeling!  Bountiful seasonal displays of flowers, pumpkins and gourds will be the crowning touch for this delightful autumn event.

To share the fun on your social media account, use the hashtag #skeletonsAreAlive. While posing for pictures with the skeletons, visit local shops and restaurants and check out their Halloween-themed window displays.

The social district extends from the closed downtown streets to the bars and restaurants along S. Center to Cady and up the east side of Wing St. to the Garage Grill and Fuel Bar on W. Main. Visitors can purchase alcoholic beverages at the restaurants and bars along this route and take them as a carry-out, in branded cups, to be outdoors.
