Families of local new-borns celebrate 313 (March 13) Day

Pure Detroit and the Detroit Medical Center will teamed up for the 12th annual 313 Day celebration of new life in the city of Detroit on March 13 (3-13).
Newborn babies #BornInThe313 at DMC Hutzel Women’s Hospital and DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital were outfitted with a “Born In The 313” onesie from original local culture shop Pure Detroit.
The onesies come in a variety of colors, including pink, blue, orange, lilac, royal blue and sage green.
The families will also received gift bags with items like bibs and beanies, plus treats for new parents, including Stella Good Coffee.
“We’re excited to be a part of welcoming our youngest citizens into the city of Detroit on such a special day,” Pure Detroit’s Shawn Santo said. “It’s important to us to celebrate new life in the Motor City with our partners at the Detroit Medical Center – an institution that’s committed to giving these adorable newborns a healthy start.”
Employees celebrate, too
The Detroit Medical Center is also celebrating 313 Day with employees wearing their favorite Detroit-themed clothing on 3/13, including signature DMC 313 t-shirts created by Pure Detroit.
“The DMC is honored to again partner with Pure Detroit and continue the tradition of celebrating this great city and our newborn babies on 3/13,” DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital’s Director of Women’s Health, certified nurse midwife Diedre Williams, said. “Our teams strive to give our newborns the healthy start they deserve, and we look forward to the bright futures they have ahead of them.”
