Detroit’s Campus Martius skating rink voted No. 1 in USA
The Rink at Campus Martius Park presented by Lexus has once again been recognized as the best ice skating rink in the country, securing the No. 1 ranking in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards 2025 and reinforcing its status as a premier destination in Downtown Detroit.
Located in the heart of Downtown Detroit on Woodward Avenue, The Rink at Campus Martius Park presented by Lexus is a premier family-friendly outdoor skating destination managed and operated by the Downtown Detroit Partnership, a nonprofit organization that stewards and programs world-class public spaces.
With picturesque views and a vibrant atmosphere, The Rink offers one of the most memorable winter experiences in the country.
This year’s ranking comes as The Rink at Campus Martius Park enters a new season with the support of Lexus, whose presenting sponsorship helps elevate one of Detroit’s most iconic winter traditions.
100,000 skaters annually
Open daily, including holidays, through March 1, 2026, The Rink at Campus Martius Park welcomes more than 100,000 skaters annually – part of the over 2.5 million visitors who enjoy Detroit’s winter season.
“The Rink at Campus Martius Park presented by Lexus offers a truly unparalleled ice skating experience, and being named the No. 1 ice skating rink in the country for a second year reflects the special place it holds in Detroit,” said David Cowan, chief public spaces officer for the Downtown Detroit Partnership.
“It’s a beloved community asset and a signature part of Downtown Detroit, embraced by residents and visitors alike. The public’s support helped us skate to the top again, and we’re grateful for the enthusiasm that surrounds The Rink each season.
“From holiday decorations including a towering Christmas tree to the CHALET 313 overlooking the ice, The Rink offers skating, seasonal activities and city views that make Downtown Detroit a winter destination.”
Host for Olympic skating shows
Now in its 22nd year, The Rink spans 7,200 square feet and hosts elite performances by Olympic and U.S. champion skaters as well as mission-driven events such as the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation’s Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer show.
It’s also known as one of Michigan’s most romantic destinations with hundreds of proposals each year.
The 20 ice-skating rinks in the running for 10Best – including the Maggie Daley Park Ice Skating Ribbon in Chicago and Roc Holiday Village Ice Rink in Rochester, New York – were nominated by an expert panel as the best in the country for providing superior ice- skating experiences.
Final selections were determined by public voting.
