Compelling new business coming to site of DTP’s Focal Point space

After sitting vacant for an extended period of time, new life is about to be pumped into downtown Plymouth’s high-visibility Focal Point property at 995 W. Ann Arbor Trail.
During the May 14, 2025, Plymouth Planning Commission meeting, commissioners voted 8-0 to approved a proposal to change the space into a coffee shop/TV broadcast studio and podcast room.
Details on the new DTP project were presented by Architect Joseph Philips and WDIV Vice President Bob Ellis.
Ellis explained the 1,400-square-foot space would serve function primarily as a coffee shop “to foster community conversations”, with a small area for remote broadcasts and podcasting.
Sunroom will be replaced
Philips and Ellis asserted there would be no satellite dishes or other external equipment attached to the building.
The name of the new business with be Fourgrounds. A projected opening date has not yet been established.

The structure’s existing sunroom, which runs parallel to Harvey Street, would be replaced with a new structure similar to the existing one.
All eight planning commissioners voted to approve the proposal with the condition that any new signage or exterior lighting changes would be addressed “administratively for compliance with city ordinances.”
Focal Point opened a new Plymouth location at 362 Harvey Street in spring of 2024.
