Canton kicks it into high gear on Senior Night with 6-0 victory

Four years after pulling on a Canton High School soccer jersey for the first time, 11 Cobra seniors played key roles in the Cobras’ Senior Night match against Walled Lake Central.
Fittingly, Canton’s final-year players went out in style, dominating the Vikings, 6-0.

The winners’ first goal was appropriately scored by senior Patrick Thomas off an assist from senior Shazeb Syed in the game’s seventh minute.
Electric connection
Eight minutes later, the rout picked up steam when Chase Haratsaris fed a perfect ball to Audin Litner, whose header from the doorstep whizzed past WLC keeper Simon Roth to up the hosts’ lead to 2-0.

Canton carried a 3-0 advantage into the half when senior Ali Zeytoun rammed home a low shot past Roth after settling a centering pass from Adam Amro.
The Cobras continued to control the game over the final 40 minutes, extending their lead to 4-0 with 31:25 remaining on Pranav Kaparthi’s net-finder.
Ansh Patel depositied the victors’ fifth goal with 25 minutes left — moments after nearly scoring on a break-away.
Seniors shine
Kalani Baez-Bonaparte tacked on the final goal with 6:46 to play.

Senior Shazeb Syed came oh so close to netting a pair of goal, glancing a hard shot off the right post before sailing a penalty kick barely north of the crossbar.
Senior Cameron Downs blanked the Vikings throughout the first half before Suhaib Shahid completed the clean sheet with a flawless second half.
The Cobras host Northville on the grass field Monday at 7 p.m. in a KLAA playoff game.
