Delaware North, a global leader in hospitality and entertainment, in partnership with Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA), proudly announces the grand opening of two new locally inspired concepts at Detroit Metro Airport: Born in Detroit Kitchen + Bar and The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company.

Located in the McNamara Terminal near Gate B6, these new venues bring the spirit and flavor of Detroit directly to travelers.

“This newest opening is a celebration of Detroit’s vibrant food and beverage scene,” said Robert Thormeier, chief operating officer for Delaware North Travel.

Thrilled with partnership

“We’re thrilled to partner with local icons to bring a taste of the city to DTW and create a memorable experience for travelers.”

“The openings of Born in Detroit Kitchen + Bar and The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company represent our continued commitment to enhancing the customer experience at Detroit Metro Airport by celebrating the city through locally rooted brands,” said Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton. “We’re proud to offer travelers from around the world an authentic taste of Detroit and a connection to our region.”

Born in Detroit Kitchen + Bar showcases the city’s culinary grit and creativity, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner alongside a cocktail menu inspired by the 313. The space also features retail items from the beloved local brand Born in Detroit and serves 8 Mile Vodka, adding a distinctive Motor City flair.

‘Opportunity to share the flavors of Detroit’

“We are incredibly excited about Born in Detroit Kitchen + Bar opening,” said Anthony Tomey, co-owner of Born In Detroit and 8 Mile Vodka. “The new restaurant gives us the opportunity to share the flavors of Detroit, showcase our apparel line and our award-winning vodka, all while embracing the pride of Detroit. This expansion is a testament to our brand’s growth and our unwavering commitment to celebrating and promoting Detroit’s unique culture.”

Adjacent to the restaurant, The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company fuels travelers with expertly brewed coffee and light bites. Known for its commitment to quality and community, the café offers a full menu of cold brews, lattes and locally roasted blends, making it a perfect stop for those on the go.

“The Great Lakes Coffee brand was inspired by our Eastside Detroit roots and launched from our garage 31 years ago,” said Greg Miracle, president and founder of The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company. “This high-visibility cafe therefore represents an exciting milestone in our mission to expand locally roasted specialty coffee and locally brewed cold brew coffee across the Great Lakes region. We are honored to bring this hand-crafted local coffee experience to DTW, and we are deeply grateful to the Wayne County Airport Authority and Delaware North for this opportunity!”

The openings are part of a broader refresh of DTW’s concessions program, which also includes the recent debut of Cask & Craft Local Spirits + Bites, along with the forthcoming 7greens, Wahlburgers and Dunkin’.
