What sets Barkside dog parks apart from ordinary dog parks is the entertainment value they offer visitors who walk on two legs, not four.
Earlier this week, Barkside owners Cody Williams and David Oh revealed they are doubling their number of locations with a soon-to-open Southfield location at 15640 W. Eleven Mile Road.
The first Barkside opened in the summer of 2023 at 7960 Kercheval in Detroit.
The Southfield Barkside will feature 6,000 square feet of indoor play space and 7,000 square feet of outdoor space, with the moniker: “For dogs and their humans, blending community, craft beverages and safe, year-round fun.”
“Our vision for Barkside has always been about more than just a bar or a dog park, Williams and Oh revealed in a press release. “It’s about creating a place where dog lovers and dogs can safely socialize, unwind, and have fun.
Southfield is ‘Perfect spot’
“Southfield’s central location makes it the perfect spot to bring Barkside’s unique concept and strong sense of community to even more metro-Detroit dog lovers.”
The outdoor space will be fully fenced with dog-friendly mulch and drainage for wet weather.
There will also reportedly be dedicated indoor and outdoor play areas specially designed for small dogs.
Bar for humans stocked with craft cocktails
The bar’s menu will include Michigan-made beer, craft cocktails, wine, mocktails and coffee.
Prior to bringing your dog to Barkside, you are required to register by visiting its website here.
There are three levels of membership to the park: annual, monthly and daily drop-in packages, all of which are explained on its website.
