Plymouth Township Amazon Fresh store won’t open after all
The Amazon Fresh grocery store planned for the shopping complex near the intersection of Haggery and Ann Arbor roads won’t open Amazon announced Tuesday.
Amazon announced Tuesday that it is closing its Amazon Go markets and Amazon Fresh stores brands — a decision that weighs heavily on a Plymouth Township strip mall.
The exterior of a proposed Amazon Fresh Store near the intersection of Ann Arbor Road and Haggerty Road has been completed for several months, but the interior is dark and unfurnished.
Two signs on the front doors of the proposed Amazon Fresh store reveal that water to the facility was shut off on July 22, 2025.
Amazon revealed in a press release that some of the planned stores will convert to Whole Foods locations; however, it is not clear at this point what will happen with the sprawling Plymouth Township property.
The online retailer announced several years ago that Amazon Fresh would open in several metro Detroit communities, including Plymouth Township, but fell short of expectations.
